Supanniga Eating Room in Bangkokg, Thailand

Bangkok is definitely a foodie city . With John being a vegetarian, it’s sometimes a game going out to eat – trying to find a menu with ample vegetarian options is more of a challenge than you would think! As a meat eater, I never really thought about it! Next time you go out to eat, pay attention to the menu and see what doesn’t have meat in it. Sometimes when we go out to eat, there are only 1 or 2 true vegetarian options (no fish sauce, no beef stock, no bacon bits). But! At Supanniga Eating Room, there were vegetarian options a-plenty!

We actually ate here twice – and we’ve only been in Bangkok for a week! While we were searching for our apartment, we stayed at a beautiful (but tiny!) Airbnb right in the heart of Thonglor. The Thonglor area right off of Sukhumvit is bustling with trendy little restaurants – yup, definitely my scene . We passed a few before stumbling into Supanniga Eating Room. We got the lucky one of the nights we just walked in, but the second time around, we needed a reservation! You can make a reservation right through their website.

Their menu is a creative play on traditional Thai classics. I highly recommend: Crispy Mushroom & Lotus RootChoo Chi Crispy TofuVegetarian Pad Thai with Crispy Tofu, and the Isan Steak served with grilled sweet sticky rice  – mmmmm!

The Vegetarian Pad Thai was to die for. Pad Thai is not one of my favorite Thai dishes – I prefer Thai curries a hundred times over. However, this Pad Thai was light, happy, just the right amount of spice that allowed the crushed peanuts to really shine through. I also loved the texture of the rice noodles. It’s the best Pad Thai I’ve ever had – but, I’ve only been in Bangkok a week. Will I eat a better Pad Thai than this?! Challenge accepted!
