Brunch at Teaberry's Tea Room in Flemington, New Jersey

It was my second time at Teaberry’s Tea Room! Teaberry’s is located at 2 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. They’re open Thursday-Monday from 11am-4pm. They’re closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Both times I went with friends and we made reservations to sit outside on the porch!

The teas are high quality and wonderful and they have a large selection! I got a pot to myself both times and I drank the whole pot both times because it was so good!

I grew up with an afternoon tea tradition. Although my grandpa was Portuguese, he served for many years in the British army during WWII. He picked up a lot of traditions from there and one of them was afternoon tea! My grandma is Chinese and tea drinking is as cultural as coffee drinking is here in the States. Tea always feels special to me because growing up, afternoon tea was our family’s connection point during our busy days. 4pm was always “coffee/tea time” and we would enjoy tea or coffee and a snack before meeting again for dinner. I hope that’s a tradition that John and I can start in our family when Archie gets to tea drinking age!

When John and I were house hunting back in 2019, we actually popped into Teaberry’s but were disappointed to find out that they were all booked for a bridal shower. We still haven’t gone back together! Going back to Teaberry’s with John on a cute little date is definitely on my list of things to do!

One of the things that I love about Teaberry’s is how they can accommodate dietary restrictions! I don’t eat meat and sometimes it can be tricky going out to eat. Teaberry’s is extremely vegetarian friendly! There’s a static menu and there’s a seasonal menu. The picture above is an example of their seasonal menu!

The first time I went to Teaberry’s, I got a soup and it was incredible. This time I went, I skipped the soup because it was super hot outside, but I got the Asparagus, Caramelized Onion, and Cheddar Quiche and it was amazing. If that was the only thing I ate at Teaberry’s, I would have been happy! Quiche is definitely one of my top 10 favorite foods. My favorite quiche recipe is actually from Joanne Chang’s cookbook, Flour. I used to love eating at her bakery+cafe when we lived in Boston.

There’s ample parking available in the back of the building. It was really busy when we went and Teaberry’s is a popular spot for bridal showers and parties so I would absolutely recommend making a reservation in advance!

The inside of Teaberry’s is fun and vibe-y but I really liked sitting outside on the porch. There are two tables on the porch that accommodate maximum of 4 people.

The tea sandwiches are so fun and delicious. I got them both times and both times ate all of them. I love that there’s always a great combination of savory and sweet sandwiches. The first time I went, my friend Fallon asked for gluten-free tea sandwiches and they were able to accommodate!

The scones come fresh and warm out of the oven and aren’t dry or crumbly. My favorite combo are fresh berries and clotted cream!

I went this time with my friends Taylor and Erika. We were celebrating Taylor’s birthday! 🎉 Taylor is a baker out of Whitehall, PA and Erika is an artist based out of Milford, NJ! It’s been fun to meet and hang out with local, creative women. I’m new to the Jersey area, so I’ve been trying to put myself out there to make friends in the area. I always get a little nervous meeting people for the first time because I can be a little quirky!

We took some portraits on the porch while we waited for our food! These were shot on a Sony a7iii with the Sigma Art 35mm lens. I shot these at ISO 100, f1.8, and 1/400sec. I love the creamy sharpness of this lens. I love my camera and have had it for years, but one thing I noticed is that it definitely shoots on the cooler side and the greens always look a little artificial. I didn’t warm up these shots but in hindsight maybe I should have adjusted the white balance a bit to the warmer side. It’s been a while since I shot portraits but overall I’m happy with how these turned out!

I can’t wait to go back to Teaberry’s! It’s such a fun lunch spot. My mom is visiting us soon and I’m looking forward to taking her here for lunch!
